Homework is given out on a Friday and is to be returned to school the following Wednesday. They will receive a piece of maths work to complete; this may be a key skill or a practical investigation. Each week your child will receive a set of words to practice reading and spelling. Please practice writing sentences using these words with your child. Reading books will be sent home every night and children have home access to online homework. Every child has their own login to where 2 pieces of Maths and English homework are set each half term.

Topic: Superheroes

Our topic this half term is ‘Superheroes’. We are really looking forward to trying to defeat the evil villains with you! Over the term we will be rescuing Superheroes from the different countries of the UK, going on a superhero hunt and creating our own superhero outfits. We will be visited by real life superheroes and finding out about their special powers.

In English we will support our reading and writing through daily phonic sessions. We will be focusing on spelling key high frequency words to use in our writing. During our English lessons we will be building and rehearsing sentences orally in order to develop our knowledge of sentence structure. We will be focusing on using capital letters, finger spaces and full stops to punctuate our sentences.

In Maths we will be counting and investigating numbers up to 100, exploring number bonds for numbers up to 10 and adding and subtracting numbers within 20. We will be building on our knowledge of 2D and 3D shapes and positional language.

This half term in Science we will be learning all about our bodies, naming body parts and recognising the 5 senses. We will be learning lots of songs and completing activities and games to support our learning.
