Dear Parents and Carers,
I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your understanding and cooperation in recent months. I know this period has been challenging for many families, we have all been impacted to some degree. As a school we have not been able to meet our new families and get to know you as we usually would, I understand that this may have been tricky at times. I know our staff team really enjoyed the phone calls to our new families and It was really helpful to find out all about likes and dislikes and so on. I do hope you have found the ‘New Starters’ tab on our school website helpful, if you haven’t seen it yet please do take a look.
I’m pleased to let you know that since the government’s most recent announcement, we are now in the position to share start dates and times with you for your child in September 2020 and these will be coming out to you in the post shortly. We have been working hard to ensure that we meet all government guidelines, our priority has been and will remain to be, your child’s safety and wellbeing.
With this in mind we are introducing a new format for our induction for the 2020 academic year. In the first instance we will be getting to know our families and our new little learners; each child, accompanied by one adult, will be allocated a 30 minute ‘Get to know you’ slot. These slots will be allocated over a 4-day period, from Thursday 2nd September to Tuesday 8th September. If weather permits these meetings will take place in our outdoor environment.
Experience has shown us that the children settle far more quickly with a gradual increase in time, this induction process has proven successful for us for many years now. We know that all children will respond differently to their new routines, new people and a new environment so want to reassure you whilst we put together an ideal timings schedule, we will work with our families to do what is best for our new little learners. Ultimately insuring their induction is successful and personalised to meet their individual needs.
We hope you find this letter reassuring, we will write to you over the summer holidays with the allocated time for your ‘Get to know you’ meeting, your personalised induction schedule and further information that will help you prepare your little one for their start in September. We will share with you how we are working to follow the government guidance, to develop and implement a number of new ways of operating. This will allow us to open as safely as possible, focusing on measures that will help limit the risk of coronavirus transmitting within our setting. If you haven’t already done so please do collect your New Starter pack from the front office – there’s lots of information in this that you will find beneficial.
