Year 4: Anglo-Saxons

As part of our topic on the Anglo-Saxons, Vikings, and Scots, Year 4 took part in a hands-on archaeological dig inspired by the famous Sutton Hoo excavation. Sutton Hoo, discovered in 1939 in Suffolk, is one of the most significant archaeological finds in British history. It revealed an Anglo-Saxon ship burial filled with treasures, believed to belong to a powerful king—possibly King Rædwald of East Anglia. During our activity, we unearthed replica artefacts and used our findings to draw conclusions about who might have been buried there, just like real archaeologists
