NED Is Back! Our Second Visit and Why It Mattered Even More

If your child came home excitedly talking about NED-again-you’re probably wondering what made this second visit so special. We were delighted to welcome The NED Show back to our school, and it was just as inspiring, energetic, and meaningful as the first time – if not more!

🌟 A Quick Reminder: Who Is NED?
NED isn’t just a character—it’s a powerful message that sticks with children long after the assembly ends:

  • Never give up
  • Encourage others
  • Do your best

These simple but important ideas continue to shape how our pupils approach challenges, friendships, and their learning.

🎯 Living Our School Values
NED’s message fits perfectly with our school values of being Curious, Ambitious, and Resilient – encouraging children to explore new ideas, aim high, and keep going even when learning feels challenging.

🎉 What Was Different This Time?
During this second visit, something special happened: the children already knew NED. Instead of hearing the message for the first time, they were able to deepen their understanding and reflect on how they’ve been using NED’s values in their own lives.

We saw:

  • Pupils eagerly joining in and recalling NED’s message
  • More thoughtful responses during discussions
  • A stronger connection between the assembly and real-life experiences

It was fantastic to see how much had stayed with them since the first visit.

🪀 Learning That Sticks (and Spins!)
Of course, the yo-yo tricks were once again a big highlight! But beyond the “wow” moments, they serve an important purpose. Learning yo-yo skills takes patience, resilience, and practice—perfectly reinforcing the idea of never giving up.

Many children are continuing to practise, challenge themselves, and even help others improve – a great example of NED in action.

💬 Real Impact in School
Since NED’s return, we’ve already noticed:

  • Pupils encouraging each other more during lessons
  • Greater perseverance with tricky tasks
  • Increased pride in effort and achievement

These are exactly the values we want to nurture, and it’s wonderful to see them so visibly in action.

🏡 How You Can Keep the Momentum Going
You can continue supporting NED’s message at home by:

  • Asking your child how they’ve shown NED each day
  • Talking about times you’ve had to never give up
  • Praising effort, even when things are difficult
  • Encouraging acts of kindness and support

💛 Final Thoughts
The second visit from NED wasn’t just a repeat—it was a powerful reinforcement of values that help children grow into confident, caring, and resilient individuals. When messages like these are revisited and lived out every day, they truly become part of who our children are.

We’re so proud of how our pupils are embracing NED – and we hope you’re seeing it at home too!
