On Wednesday 1st July 2026, Gosford Park Primary School was full of excitement as pupils took part in our annual Transition Day – a special opportunity for children to meet their new teachers, explore their new classrooms, and begin preparing for the next step in their learning journey.
From Nursery right through to Year 6, every pupil spent the day in their new class for September, getting a taste of what the next academic year will bring. The atmosphere around school was buzzing as children eagerly settled into new environments, met new classmates, and built confidence ahead of the new term.
😊 A Day of Smiles and New Beginnings
Across the school, pupils showed fantastic enthusiasm and positivity. Teachers organised a range of activities to help everyone feel welcome and comfortable, including:
- Getting-to-know-you games
- An introduction to new topics for September
- Creative artwork activities
- Opportunities to explore their new classroom spaces
These experiences helped pupils quickly build relationships and feel excited about the year ahead. It was wonderful to see children supporting one another and embracing change with confidence.
📚 A Sneak Peek at New Learning
Each year group was also introduced to some of the exciting topics they will be studying next year. Pupils got a preview of learning such as:
- Year 1: What is history?
- Year 2: Explorers
- Year 3: Stonehenge
- Year 4: Romans
- Year 5: Egyptians
- Year 6: Crime and Punishment
This gave children an inspiring insight into their future learning and sparked curiosity about the year ahead.
👏 A Smooth and Successful Day
Transition Day ran smoothly, with children confidently arriving at and leaving from their new classrooms, helping to make the experience feel real and reassuring for both pupils and families.
We are incredibly proud of how well all pupils adapted, demonstrating resilience, maturity, and a positive attitude throughout the day.
🎉 Looking Ahead
Transition Day is always an important milestone, and this year was no exception. It ensures pupils feel ready, excited, and confident as they move into their new year groups in September.
A huge well done to all our pupils – you represented Gosford Park Primary School brilliantly! We hope everyone left the day feeling happy about their new classes and excited for the year ahead.
