Admissions at Gosford Park Primary School

Welcome to Gosford Park Primary School. We are a vibrant, two-form entry school for children aged 3 to 11. As a school maintained by Coventry City Council, all our admissions (except for Nursery) are managed through the local authority.

📅 Applying for a Reception Place

If your child is due to start primary school in September, you must apply for a place through the Coventry City Council portal during the autumn/winter before they start.

Typical Application Timeline:

• September: Applications open for the following school year.

• January (Mid-Month): National closing date for all primary school applications.

• April (Mid-Month): National Offer Day. Parents are notified of their allocated school via email or the council portal.

 

🏠 Catchment Area & Eligibility

Gosford Park has a Published Admission Number (PAN) of 60 per year group. If the number of applications exceeds this limit, Coventry City Council allocates places using the following priority criteria:

1. Children in Care: (Looked After Children) or previously looked after children.

2. Catchment Area + Sibling: Children living in the catchment area with a brother or sister already attending the school.

3. Catchment Area: Other children living within the school’s defined catchment area.

4. Outside Catchment + Sibling: Children living outside the catchment area with a brother or sister at the school.

5. Distance: Children based on the shortest walking distance to the school.

🔄 Moving School (In-Year Transfers)

If you have recently moved to Coventry or wish to move your child to Gosford Park from another school during the academic year, this is an In-Year Transfer.

• How to apply: All in-year moves are coordinated by the Coventry City Council Admissions Team.

• Process: You can check availability and apply directly through the council website.

🧸 Nursery Admissions

Applications for our Nursery are handled directly by the school rather than the council.

⚖️ Appeals

If you are not offered a place at your preferred school, you have the right to appeal to an independent panel. Details on the appeals timetable and how to lodge an appeal can be found on the council website.
